1. About this policy

This translation is provided for convenience. If it differs from the Portuguese version, the Portuguese version prevails.

This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and other browser data FixResume uses, what they are for, how long they are kept and how you can accept or reject the optional ones.

FixResume is operated by Softwise LTDA, registered under CNPJ (Brazilian company registration number) 59.176.542/0001-62, the controller of the personal data processed by FixResume. This policy supplements the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use.

2. What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. They let the site, for example, remember that you are signed in as you move from one page to another.

Cookies set by FixResume itself are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other companies, on their own domains, are third-party cookies.

Local storage (localStorage) is a space in your browser where a website keeps small pieces of information on your device. Unlike cookies, what is stored there is not sent to the server on every visit.

3. How we use cookies

FixResume uses two categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary: they keep you signed in, protect access to your account and remember your choices. FixResume does not work without them, so they are always on.
  • Analytics: they measure how FixResume is used, so we understand what to improve. They are optional and stay off until you click “Accept” in the cookie banner.

Until you decide, or if you reject them, no analytics cookie is set and no browsing data is sent to Google Analytics.

We do not use advertising, remarketing or social media cookies.

Strictly necessary cookies rely on the performance of our contract with you and on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure (art. 7, V and IX, of the LGPD, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados, Brazil’s data protection law). Analytics cookies depend on your consent (art. 7, I), which you can withdraw at any time (art. 8, § 5).

4. Strictly necessary cookies

These are FixResume’s own cookies and cannot be turned off in the banner:

  • sb-<project>-auth-token: keeps your sign-in session, created by Supabase, our authentication provider. When the session does not fit in a single cookie, it is split into parts ending in .0, .1 and so on. When you request a sign-in code, Supabase also sets helper cookies with the same prefix, ending in -code-verifier, that help validate access by email. These cookies stay in your browser after you close it and are deleted when you sign out. The session cookie is refreshed as you use the app; each of these cookies expires 400 days after it was last set or refreshed. None of them can be read by scripts (httpOnly).
  • pending_otp: stores the email address waiting for its sign-in code (and, during sign-up, the name you entered), so this data never appears in the page address. Scripts cannot read it (httpOnly). It lasts up to 1 hour and is deleted as soon as you confirm the code.
  • NEXT_LOCALE: stores the interface language you chose. It is a session cookie: it expires when you close your browser.
  • cookie_consent: stores your answer to the cookie banner (“accepted” when you accept, “rejected” when you reject), so we do not ask again on every visit. It lasts 6 months; after that, the banner appears again.

The security checks from Cloudflare and Stripe may also set technical cookies on their own domains, as described in section 7.

5. Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, from Google, to measure FixResume’s audience: how many people visit, which pages are viewed most and where visits come from. These cookies are set only after you click “Accept” in the banner:

  • _ga: tells one visitor apart from another using a random identifier. It lasts 2 years.
  • _ga_<id>, where <id> is the code of our Google Analytics property: keeps the state of the measurement session. It lasts 2 years.

What is measured: pages visited, where the visit came from (for example, a search or a link), device type, browser and approximate location, estimated from your IP address.

What is not sent to Google: the content of your professional profile, your resumes, the job posts you analyze and your applications. Google Analytics’ advertising features are turned off, and the data is not used for ads or to personalize ads.

Google may process this data outside Brazil, mainly in the United States, under the Google Privacy Policy. To stop the measurement, just reject analytics cookies (section 8). Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.

6. Local storage

Besides cookies, FixResume keeps this item in your browser’s local storage:

  • wiseresume:resume-template: the resume template you last chose when exporting to PDF, so it is already selected next time.

This item stays only on your device, is never sent to our servers and is not used for analytics. It remains until you clear the site’s data in your browser. If local storage is blocked, FixResume does not remember your choice on your next visit and starts with the default template.

7. Third-party cookies

Two providers may set their own technical cookies, on their own domains, when you use certain parts of FixResume:

  • Cloudflare Turnstile (challenges.cloudflare.com): a bot check on the sign-up, sign-in and sign-in code screens. It processes your IP address and browser signals to tell people apart from bots.
  • Stripe (checkout.stripe.com and billing.stripe.com): the payment page where you buy a plan or a day pass, and the Stripe portal, opened when you update your payment method or settle a charge. Stripe uses cookies for security and fraud prevention. Card details are entered on Stripe’s page and never reach FixResume.

These cookies are necessary to keep sign-in and payment secure. Each provider controls its own cookies, may process the data outside Brazil, mainly in the United States, and follows its own policies: Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Stripe Privacy Policy.

8. How to make or change your choice

  • On your first visit, the cookie banner offers “Accept”, which turns on analytics cookies, and “Reject”, which keeps only the strictly necessary ones.
  • At any time, click “Cookie preferences” in the site footer (including the footer of this page) or in the app’s sidebar to review and change your choice.
  • If you reject after having accepted, Google Analytics stops measuring and the _ga and _ga_<id> cookies are deleted from your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect the measurement made while it was in effect.
  • You can also view, block and delete cookies in your browser settings. If you delete the cookie_consent cookie, the banner appears again on your next visit.

Please note: if you block strictly necessary cookies in your browser, you will not be able to sign in or use the app. Blocking local storage only makes FixResume forget the resume template you chose.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law requires it. If we start using a new optional cookie, we will update this policy first, and that cookie will only be turned on with your consent.

Questions about cookies and requests about your data can be sent to Softwise LTDA at contato@softwise.tech, which is also the channel for our data protection officer (encarregado), Lucas Barreto Fontinele. We reply within 15 days. Your rights are described in the Privacy Policy, and you may also file a complaint with the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD), Brazil’s data protection authority.
